what you can do!What you can do to help make a positive difference for the Rental Housing Industry: Vote. Given the importance of county and local issues to our members and the fact that every vote truly does make a difference, elections represent the golden opporutnity for the rental housing industry to elect rental housing-friendly candidates. Throughout the year, RHA PAC evaluates elected officials at the city, county and state levels to determine how they line up with our industry. Each election cycle our Political Action Committee interviews candidates, determines their degree of support for our industry and publishes a list of recommended candidates. Your vote in support of RHA PAC supported candidates will go a long way toward affecting the outcome of these critical races. Join the RHA's Political Action Committee. Communicating with elected officials reminds them that RHA Members are watching the issues affecting rental housing industry and care about them. Find out how to join today. Participate in campaigns of RHA Supported Candidates. In addition to voting in local elections, association members can make a big difference in the outcome of important races by directly participating in individual campaigns. This could include making a financial contribution, putting up a yard sign, asking your associates to vote for pro-housing candidates or hosing fund-raisers for housing-friendly candidates running in your district. Participate in Legislative Day and Face-to-Face meetings with elected officials. January 27, 2011 in the next RHA Legislative Day. RHA members go to Olympia and meet face-to-face with elected officials. Having members attend this event is an extremely effective way to get our message across. That is because you are their constituents! You have the unique ability to tell these officials exactly how a given policy affects you and others in the industry. Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper. A letter to the editor is an important tool we can use to help educate the public on our issues. Additionally, insofar as elected officials read letters to the editor, they can help influence policy decisions on issues important to the home building industry.
