You are taking the time out of your busy schedule to attend a social function. Here are few tips on how to make the most out of these opportunities!

1) Arrive to function on time.

2) Turn cell phone ringer to vibrate or silent – do not text/e-mail during meetings.

3) Introduce yourself to RHA registration staff and key persons in the organization.

4) Wear name badge on right side so it’s visible when shaking hands.

5) Shake hands and/or greet everyone.

6) Bring business cards to share on request.

7) Avoid two people deep conversations. It’s easier to approach a party of three or more.

8) Keep conversation casual. No one likes an aggressive sales pitch.

9) Let rental property owners talk about themselves rather than interviewing them as prospects. Ask open-ended questions.

10) Be supportive of other vendors and suppliers. They can also be potential friends, referrals and clients.

11) Show up, be present, be engaged and be interested.
