Chris Benis – Leases and Forms – CLOCK

Christopher T. Benis is a partner with the law firm of HARRISON, BENIS
& SPENCE, LLP, with offices in Seattle, WA. Mr. Benis attended
the University of Washington, where he received a B.A. in Political
Science, a Master of Urban Planning and J.D. from its School of
Law. He represents property management firms, individual real
estate investors, real estate brokerages, industry trade associations,
design professionals, and construction companies.
Chris is a regular speaker and author on topics related to property
management. Chris currently serves as Legal Counsel for the Rental
Housing Association of Puget Sound (RHAPS) and is a past-President of
the organization. He is currently on RHAPS’ Executive
Committee.
He has spoken at TRENDS (the Washington state rental housing management
convention) since 1994 and authors a monthly property management column
in the RHAPS UPDATE and a quarterly column in the Washington Realtor
News. He teaches the 30 clock hour Real Estate Law class at
the Rockwell Institute in Bellevue monthly, has served on the continuing
education faculty of John L. Scott Real Estate, is a regular presenter
to the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) and the National
Association of Residential Property Managers (NARPM), and is a regular
speaker throughout Washington state on Real Estate, Brokerage, Property
Management and Crime Free Housing topics.
Chris builds on his personal experience as a “second
generation” real estate investor to advise his clients on
practical and understandable solutions to their legal needs and
concerns.

Michelle Broderson – Real Estate Investment

Michelle has been a licensed agent for 21 years and currently
sells real estate with Wilson Realty Exchange, Inc as an Associate
Broker. Michelle’s mentor has owned hundreds of units and
was able to retire himself and several of his clients at a very early
age. Michelle is passionate about sharing this insight with her
clients - her specialty is helping people get started with their real
estate investing portfolio, starting with single family, 1-4 units and
trading up from there.Michelle is a volunteer instructor for Washington
State Housing Finance Commission, RHA's Investment Club & Education
Committee and as of 2010 is on the RHA Board of Directors. Most of
her business comes from referrals and past clients - this gives clients
more of her time. Michelle and her husband Curtis own and operate
their own rental properties in King County and live in Seattle and enjoy
traveling, hiking and fine wine. |

Mike Sanderson – Real Estate Investment

Mike Sanderson is the author of the new book “Flipped Out? - Want
to Achieve Sustainable Real Estate Success?” due out spring 2010.
He is the CEO of a family business that owns, manages and maintains over
100 revenue producing rental units -- a majority being single-family
residences that were purchased in disrepair. Mike has actively
participated at all levels of the purchase, construction and remodeling
of over 100 homes and 20+ multiple unit buildings. He has numerous years
in the construction of roads, new homes and remodeling that give him the
distinct advantage of having a vast amount experience. |

Anderson has over 20 years of Mortgage Banking
experience. Prior to joining Banner Bank, she was a Residential
Loan Officer and Production Club Award Winner for Washington
Mutual. In addition, she worked as a Regional Lending Center
Manager and Operations Supervisor while at Washington Mutual.

Verna Cameron, after having worked in several of the largest law firms
in Seattle, founded L/T Services in 1982. With the assistance and
support of excellent attorneys and staff the business has grown to a
point where it averages up to 1,500 evictions per month.
Verna has several attorneys amongst her clients, a true compliment to
the services her company offers. She was amonth the first five
registered legal assistants in King County back when this program first
started and has remained a legal assistance to two attorneys
specializing in evictions.
She frequently is a guest speaker at various community police seminars
in King, Pierce and Snohomish Counties, as well as being a speaker at
Seattle Housing seminars for landlords. She has taught classes at
Washington Vo-Tech in Kirkland, as well as clock hour classes for NARPM
and for RHAOP. Verna has also been a speaker and instructor at numerous
seminars and classes put on for the industry by L/T Services for
years.

Simon a popular speaker and teacher appears before Real Estate Investor
groups as well as Apartment/Landlord Associations. She is the
creator of the Landlord 101 class which features “The 10
Commandments of Property Management”. Tamara has been
interviewed and quoted in various publications including, The Seattle
Times, Seattle Business Journal, and UPDATE a RHA Publication.
Tamara has served on the board of the Seattle Chapter of National
Association of Residential Property Management and currently serves on
the Board of the Rental Housing Association of Puget Sound.

past twenty years, John has held creative and management positions at

A former RHA Board Member and Web Committee Chair, John owns and manages
apartment buildings on Magnolia and Queen Anne. |

Sherry Zane - Panelist – Managing Your
Maintenance Costs

Sherry Zane CPM® is the Director of Apartment Operations and
Conversions for Phillips Real Estate Services.
She has been with Phillips for 25 years and has extensive experience
managing as both an owner and a fee manager. She is co-teaches a
class for new resident mangers at Phillips and is passionate about our
industry.
Sherry is a current member of RHA’s Board of Directors and serves
as Treasurer and Co-Chair to the Budget and Finance Committee. She
has been active with IREM for many years having served as a chapter
president, a Regional Vice President and most recently, a member of the
National IREM Executive Council in 2006 and 2007.
In previous careers, she was a U.S. Army Captain for the Army Nurse
Corps during the Vietnam War and owned and operated a sailboat
chartering business on the East coast with her husband. She has
been a volunteer with Intiman Theatre since 1981.

Dean Hanks – Panelist – Managing Your
Maintenance Costs

Dean has been involved in facilities maintenance for nearly
forty years. The son of a welder and machinist, he started
early. After serving as a nuclear engineer in the Navy, he has
gone on to develop and implement maintenance systems and procedures for
the US government, electric utilities, and private industry.
Dean entered property management twenty years ago, and has been an
Accredited Residential Manager for 15 years, serving the local IREM
chapter currently on the Scholarship committee. As always,
maintenance is still his primary responsibility.
Currently Dean and Ruth Ann manage a residential complex in Port
Orchard. |
